Recycling of Plastic Packaging
The recycling process for plastic packaging generally involves the following steps: First, plastic packaging collected in containers is brought to collection and sorting facilities. There, it first undergoes a coarse screening process. Once sorted by type, the plastic packaging is shredded into smaller pieces, washed, dried and stored. After the particles are classified by density (PET, PE, PVC, etc.), they undergo a chemical washing process. Washing is followed by rinsing and metal detection. The particles are then dried and fed into an extruder. The extruder melts the cleaned plastic particles and converts them into granules. These granules can be reused as a primary raw material in production.
